The Midterm Elections : When The Giant Awakes
59Chronology
Last November, just three days into reading Sarah Palin's memoir (Going Rogue), I hung up my guitar for the duration. Duration defined: After (a) the midterm elections on November 2, and then (b) the Presidential election in 2012, I'll get that axe back down and get back to songwriting.
Why the hiatus?
Because, (a) as Glen Beck puts it so well, out country is burning, (b) I don't multitask well, and (c) it became clear I needed to laser-focus on writing in support of conservative candidates until we know Obama's nation-destroying ultra-liberal agenda is stopped and reversed.
I've used YouTube song videos by patriots like Ray Stevens and Joyce Schaffer in some of the political hubs--tunes like God Save Arizona, We the People, and Taking Our Country Back. ("...If that doesn't sound good to you...let us help you pack!"). However, if memory serves, only once have I utilized my own song in that genre, a crudely recorded but serviceable number titled When the Giant Awakes.
Giant was written in midsummer 2009, long before I'd figured out the fast-growing Tea Party was for me and there were millions upon millions of other "me's" out there with a ferocious fire building in our beliles, a determination beyond description to save not just Arizona but the entire United States of America and its incredible one-of-a-kind Constitution--which, of course, Obama was already shredding like his entire job was the making of confetti.
It was before Health Care Deformed was rammed up our--I mean, down our throats. Before the March 2010 McCain-Palin rally where I met my first Tea Party members...who just happened to be energy company workers from the highline in Montana, my old stomping grounds. Before I'd written hubs supporting Andy Goss, then Brian Miler, then Jim Deakin, now Ruth McClung, and even a bit here and there in favor of Jesse Kelly (Vs. Green Gabrielle Giffords, that last one is a no brainer... and Raul "Boycott" Grijalva is a politician whose policy positions are just too repulsive for words.).
Yep. Time runs when you're having flies.
It's now a mere four weeks until we head to the polls to Throw the Bums Out. I believe the giant is truly already wide awake, but on November 2, We the People get to prove it. In the meantime, feel free to share the video with whomever you'd like. There's no charge--it's not for sale or anything. If you know a friend or neighbor or distant acquaintance who might find it of value, just tell 'em,
"Hey, this guy even looks like he's down and out, and he's still fighting for America! Come on, I'll pick you up on the second; just make sure you've got your voter registration card in your wallet, okay?"
Watching The Clock
Time is running out for the Democrats. Naturally, we want to make sure we keep cinching the screws down that much tighter every day between now and Election Day. Nah, not preaching here...except maybe to myself. Noticed tonight a horrible thought had crept unnoticed into my feeble brain:
"Heck, it probably won't matter if I don't write a piece tonight...."
A-a-a-agh-h-h-h!! Yes it will matter!! What if this hub, effective as it might or might not seem, turns out to be what gets that one more vote necessary for Jesse Kelly to defeat Gaby Giffords in CD8 or for Ruth McClung to upset Raul Grijalva in CD7...but I never wrote it?
I'd never be able to live with myself.
Okay, yeah, I'd live. But my grandkids, all twenty-some of 'em, would rightfully cuss me to my grave.
And beyond.
Remember in November.
