The Importance Of Defending The Border
70America, Land of the Red, White, and Yellow
President Barack Obama's assignment of 524 National Guard troops to the Arizona border is a bad joke. The Yuma Sector has been locked tight against illegal immigration for some time. That success could be duplicated in the Tucson Sector, but it won't be accomplished with the short term deployment of a few hundred weekend warriors. The Anointed One, as Sean Hannity calls him, has followed his standard practice when facing any important decision:
1. Stall as long as possible.
2. When stalling is no longer a viable option, authorize the smallest possible fraction of resources requested by those in harm's way. Troops for Afghanistan, oil-fighting assets for the Gulf, illegal immigration stoppers for Arizona...same old, same old.
Oh, you want me to respect the Office? Stop slamming the current occupant of the Offal--I mean Oval Office? Foks, that's the thing: I do respect the Presidency. But I'm not so sure Barack Hussein Obama respects it. Because--and let's just consider one item here, i.e. the invasion from Mexico--his cavalier treatment of the deadly dangerous border situation has put our country in a horrible position...
...put us in a position to be seen by our neighbors to the south as America, Land of the Red, White, and Yellow.
Cowards, that is. Afraid to defend the line drawn long ago. How bold must it make those already brazen drug runners who already hike freely past our white-flag sign a full 80 miles north of the border, deep in our own territory and just 30 miles from Arizona's capitol, the sign which might as well announce,
"OKAY, TAKE OUR LUNCH MONEY!! JUST DON'T HURT US!! PLEASE!!"
A Mental Exercise
Rhetorical question: What do you suppose would happen if a group of, oh, say, 40 or 50 northern gringos illegally hiked 80 miles into Mexico? Oh, and to make the comparison apt, let's say that these folks were packing cases of ammunition openly designed for one of the drug cartels to use against its competitors--and of course to intimidate ordinary citizens and Mexican police. Plus, just for spice, let's also be sure that the lead scout of the group, the point man, and the dude "riding drag" at the rear are all Arizona Hells Angels wearing their colors and packing M16 rifles capable of full auto fire.
Clearly, there would be some dead Americans as a result, with Mexican law enforcement casualties quite possible but not guaranteed--since the Mexican Army might well be brought to bear with heavy long-range ordnance and no quarter offered. At best, the surviving hikers would be facing lengthy prison terms and our government would have some serious explaining to do.
Any nation taking its sovereignty seriously would act in similar fashion.
But we're not defending our borders, not like that. The Border Patrol is doing its best, the state of Arizona and a number of private Arizona citizens are doing what they can, but the man at the top is instead siding with Mexico's President Calderon against his own people and attacking Arizona's SB 1070 law on illegal immigration instead of attacking the invaders.
In a way, it's too bad the President considers himself an African American. If he had even a dribble of Native American blood running through his veins, he might actually understand how the dangers of an undefended border exceed even the dangers of failing to toady to one's Hispanic voting base.
A Salute To Greta
We on the borderland firing line do have reason to hope. One such reason is named Greta Van Susteren of Fox News. She has been to the border, seen for herself, and she gets it. Apologists for Obama's non-policy regarding the border have no easy time of it when facing Greta in front of the camera; she gets all up in their grille!
Once Sarah Palin has knocked OzBama out of the box in 2012 and been inaugurated in 2013, we'll be able to dump the yellow and get back to honoring the red, white, and blue. In the meantime, a bit of appreciation where it's warranted:
Thanks, Greta.

The bullets, the guns come from the United States. The drugs are consumed here by snot nosed rich kids. Poor Mexico to have us as a neighbor. If my kid had big, sad, hungry eyes I would do anything for him.....viva Mexico our great neighbor!

Hi Ghost, hopefully my post won't be deleted by hubpages like the one I posted to your other illegal immigration hub. Obama definitely has an agenda when it comes to illegal immigration and that is amnesty. I'm not sure why no one gets it in Washington that amnesty is not a popular decision with people. We still haven't strengthened our borders, we still don't have control of our legal immigration situation. The last amnesty said that those have to be rectified, yet nothing gets done. If it's frustrating to me and I'm far away from the border, it has to be apoplectic for you guys at the border.
