Ruth McClung Vs. Raul Grijalva : Obamacare
61Amnesia....
Ruth McClung, like every other solid conservative I know, is committed to defunding and then repealing Obamacare. Arizona CD7 incumbent Democrat Raul Grijalva, exactly like Green Gabrielle Giffords in CD8, voted for the measure with boundless enthusiasm and is committed to defending and then implementing .Obamacare.
Talk about American voters having a real choice this year!
Okay. We all know that. We also know President OzBama himself, ever on the stump, has repeatedly told his base that Republicans are hoping the voters have amnesia by the time the midterm elections roll around.
The Prez almost got it right--except that, as usual, the only accurate way to judge his remarks is to consider them the precise opposite of the truth. Because it's the Democrats who need (desperately!) for the electorate to have amnesia in November this year.
Unfortunately for them, incumbents in general and Democrats who voted for Obamacare in particular are going to suffer not from amnesia but from Milk of Magnesia. It's been a while since the majority of our citizenry used an outhouse on a regular basis, but we still remember how to use the ballot box to get 'em out of the House.
Charmin, anyone?
Maybe, once Health Care Deformed has been repealed, all those pages can be recycled. Does Charmin have an app for that?
If Charmin does not, Ray Stevens most definitely does. Naturally, Ray doesn't limit his approach to a Ruth McClung vs. Raul Grijalva matchup in Arizona, and neither should we. As he puts it so well, including every politician who voted in favor of Obamacare,
"...You vote Obamacare, we gonna vote you outa there!"
A Few Reminders
Now, Ray is 71 years of age...but clearly neither senile nor suffering from amnesia. He had this video (now topping 3.5 million views on YouTube) up and running before Congress clogged the sewers with Obamacare so badly that the whole country needs a good, old fashioned session with a political Roto Rooter. Still, most of us could kind of forget just a little bit. After all, quite a few folks still have actual lives. We can get busy, and it's honestly hard at times to remember every little thing. Like, for example, remembering all those RINOs dismissing the idea that even backing by Sarah Palin could help Joe Miller and Christine O'Donnell win primaries in Alaska and Delaware, respectively.
No problem. Here are just a few reminders:
--Arizona, specifically, faced toxic financial ObamaBite the moment the bill was passed.
--Let's not forget the first detail that hit the news, namely the brand new 10% tax on tanning salons. Taxing a tan didn't improve anyone's health care but was the opening shot in the income redistribution Somali piracy...okay, the Obama piracy of private income into the grabby government spendy-box.
--The Obamacare mandate to buy health insurance whether you wanted it or not was touted as a device to steal from the rich but does not do so. Instead, it attacks the middle class directly. As far as I know, I'm the first analyst to crunch the numbers on that one, publishing the grim findings in the hub titled Health Care Law Does Not Tax The Rich!
Not to mention Liarama Obama's uber-notorious switcheroo on that last one, swearing up, down, sideways, and in-your-face that the mandate was not a tax (when he needed votes for its passage) and then--when he needed it to be a tax in order to argue for its constitutionality in court--directing his legal beagles to swear with equal fervor that it is a tax, has always been a tax, and my goodness, how could you ever have thought otherwise?
Don't worry, B.O. We the People didn't ever think otherwise.
McClung 2010.

On the same subject ... Got an e-mail the other day saying "Gonorrhea Lectim is easily cured with a new drug just coming on the market called Votemout, applied every two years". I laughed until I realized it was too close to the truth to be funny.

Wonderful hub! I laughed out loud more than once reading this. And I loved this one of Ray Stevens. Don't think I've heard it before but my memory isn't what it used to be. I am constantly being reminded of what I know or knew by my loved ones! I mean, really? In this political climate, I don't know how Arizona could possibly vote Grijalva back UNLESS he gets the illegal and hispanic votes. Any worries of unsavory voting conduct out there because I would not put anything passed Grijalva. I forgot, too, does AZ require you to present a driver's license to vote?
