Ruth McClung Vs. Raul Grijalva : Glenn Beck

The Glenn Beck Show, 10/29/2010

While hacking away at the keyboard, I usually have Fox News running in the background. On Glenn Beck's show tonight, he had three great guests: Tom Tancredo, running for Governor of Colorado...Ryan Frazier, running for Congress in Colorado...and our own Ruth McClung, currently pounding Raul "Boycott" Grijalva into political mush in Arizona CD7. Some readers will remember my telling Ruth at the Arizona Border Rally in August that she'd grown "1,000 times stronger" than she was in March. She agreed.

Based on her balanced, reasoned responses to Beck's questions tonight, it seems clear that number needs to be revised. Upward. By some exponential factor.  It was not the endorsement by Sarah Palin that caused this growth, either; it was this growth that caused Sarah Palin to notice Ruth.

In other words, this lady is ready for Congress. She's ready to see her "suicide mission" turn into one of the nation's most stunning conservative victories on November 2. She's ready to deal with all of the wild publicity that is sure to follow.

Most importantly, she's ready to face the pressure cooker that is Washington, D.C., without losing her conservative values. Without becoming co-opted by the establishment. Without becoming jaded, even.

==============================================================

Fortunately, Ruth, you're not going to have to do it alone. We the People intend to send a whole company of cavalry with you. True, not every one of the new class, the freshman Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives, will be as pure of heart as you are. Not by a long shot. There will be snakes in the grass, camouflaged RINOs, and people you could have sworn were friends who try to offer you that first "free drug"--the bribe that doesn't look like a bribe on the surface, the earmark that pretends it's not pork, the offer to reach across the aisle that (if you are sucked in) will remove your arm at the shoulder.

But there will be enough true Constitutional conservatives. You're smart, you're tough, and the simple fact that you're still standing after all they've thrown at you from the day you declared your candidacy in 2009 is clear evidence that you know how to spot the phonies, to see through the friends who aren't friends and to recognize true allies just as surely. The newly established Congressional Tea Party Caucus may help or it may not; only time will tell...but you'll form your alliances, and they'll be good ones.

One day, the movie folks will be producing epics about the midterm elections of 2010. Most will, as always, have the leftwing slant we've come to expect from Hollywood. A few, though, will get it right. I can see one now, the blockbuster true story epitomizing the very essence of the Second Revolutionary War, that series of campaign battles that turned back the tide of Obama's Great Oppression as surely as our underestimated forefathers turned back the might of the English empire more than 230 years ago.

And they'll choose you as the protagonist. Ruth McClung, the young physicist and rock climber who took on and defeated Rotten Raul "Godfather" Grijalva, the Democrat who could never be touched in his safely gerrymandered district, the man who dreamed his own dreams of empire and co-chaired the Congressional Progressive Caucus.

The greatest challenge to the movie-makers will be finding an actress who can play the part. It won't be easy.

When the movie is released, I'll definitely go to see it. I'll even stand in line if necessary. And when it goes to DVD, my wife and I will buy a copy for us and a dozen copies for friends and family. What you've done--technically, what you will have done as the polls close next Tuesday--has not been fully recognized. Not yet. Not by a long shot. But it will be, and it will not be forgotten.

I'm not registered as Republican but I assure you Grjalva will not get my vote. I watched the Beck show you mention and msut agree McClung is with no doubt what we need to fill the seat. I have to say you're quite creative a writer, you are a joy to read,keep it up Ghost and thanks again!

Thanks, Jeremey. With the number of Democrats in CD7 outnumbering Republicans by something like three to one, it's pretty clear that Ruth will need votes from more than just the Republican base to oust Grijalva. Even when Indpendents are included, the Democrats outnumber "all others" by two to one.

Fortunately, it really does look like that's not going to be a problem on Tuesday. And it really does tickle me that you intend to be part of the solution! (Which I can't do directly, living in CD8 and needing to mark my ballot against Green Gabrielle Giffords.)

raul is an idiot. I have been telling him so for over a year. He obviously doesn't want to know. Good Luck Ruth!!! You have my vote.

I hope Ruth frees Arizona from the grip of Grijalva. Sure looks like it. You really have tooted her horn the whole way, Ghost. It's a wonderful service you have done for Arizona and for our country, and I for one, thank you so much for staying on top of these races. I know in my heart your writings have made a difference to voters. Thank you.
