Bunny Rabbit Refuge at the Border Fort

There's a bunny rabbit refuge at the Border Fort near Palominas, Arizona

Never wrote this up for the public eye, but now I think I'm gonna

Gotta keep a sharp watch on the hawk right there flying overhead

So I freeze in place, never twitch my face; Mom moved and now she's dead

Whew! The hawk is gone...but, hey, what's that unidentifiable sound

My eyes stay glued to a single spot while my ears swivel around

Oh, hey, okay, it's no big deal, just Ghost's Canon PowerShot

Making that shutter-clicking sound, recording my every thought

Huh! Wouldn't you know, now the light is low so he gets out the tripod

And the red light blink from the shutter delay is spooking me a lot!

I watched Pam's son from the deeper brush when he came out recently

And washed those windows on the Border Fort to let Ghost's camera see

Photographing my ass through thermopane glass while I"m still stuck out here

Gotta groom my feet, be clean and neat when my photographs appear

The moon is up though the sun's not down, a most dangerous time of day

Gotta stick close to the Border Fort when the coyotes come to play

Pam has let those critters know she loves them right out there

And they don't hunt next to the house--am I a rabbit or a hare?

Ghost has said when he gets rich and has the coin in hand

He's going to make some rabbit hides for our refuge on this land

Now, I don't know what a coin might be, but I know I'm rich as such

Rich in friends at the Border Fort; I appreciate them much

But now we get to politics and why this coming fall

The People of America will rise up one and all

The humans have a job to do if we're to survive the year

There's a thing they call the economy and jobs and--and, oh dear!

I really don't know how these things go; I'm just a bunny rabbit

Who ducks the predators and chews the underbrush from habit

But from what I hear it's pretty clear they must defeat Obama

Or redhead Pam will need to slam big doses from Big Pharma

Excuse me while I shift a bit and chow down on some brush

Remember to listen to Hannity and maybe even Rush

I will not cry; I'll keep an eye on the GOP campaign

And hope y'all do nominate a man with both principles and brain

Mitt Romney's got an ad campaign that's having great effect

Even border bunny rabbits have to give that some respect

But no matter who's the one you choose, he's better than Barack

That pessimistic President and his socialistic flack

Please know that I will keep an eye on the campaign over time

But You the People need to do the wading through the slime

Until the day you say okay and hit that ballot box
