Bellieve It Or Not

ALERT!!  BRIAN MILLER SUSPENDS CAMPAIGN!! DETAILS HERE!!

Wow. At the same time I was writing about theft of Arizona CD8 campaign signs (Brian Miller Vs. Jesse Kelly Vs. Jonathan Paton : Midnight Requisitions) in the Sierra Vista area, not one but two! Countem two! Living, breathing, America's Dumbest Thieves were being arrested. Special Edition midnight riders. Idiots--no, that's too kind. Kelly supporters who were nailed with the evidence in hand, or more correctly, with the evidence in their cars: Recently stolen signs for both the Miller and Paton campaigns.

You couldn't make this stuff up.

Sam Stone has posted the details on Brian Miller's Facebook page. You might want to check that out, since it's all of one piece. The same wording can be found right here, but in two parts. It's hard to consider more than a couple of sentences at a time without laughing. My wife and I've seen through Jesse Kelly from Day One, but even we didn't expect his curb-creeping crew of nightcrawlers to model themselves after the evil but inept Dr. Doofenshmirtz on Phineas and Ferb.

Part one of Sam Stone's post:

Sign Thieves Caught! Police arrested two people last night, one in Green Valley, the other in Tucson who were caught pulling campaign signs. The one in GV reportedly even had a forged document identifying herself as a Pima County Sign Code Enforcement Officer. Both apparently also had Miller & Paton signs they had illegally removed in their vehicles.

Get that?I haven't personally studied Arizona case law in any real depth, but it does seem highly likely that stealing signs carries a lesser legal penalty than does impersonating a cop--even a little ol' "Sign Code Cop". You know, like a broken turn signal on your vehicle carries a lesser legal penalty than leading officers on a high speed chase that only ends with your Camry crashing into the police station.

Something like that.

"My evil plan cannot fail! We will forge documents with my new forginator, steal signs put up by my competition, and take over the world! Hey, it worked for Obama!"

Sometimes You Just Can't Resist

Generally speaking, I detest polls of all types, especially online polls like the one below. But there's always an exception. This one was too much fun to leave out, so here ya go.

P.A.P. (Political Aptitude Poll) Test

Having his supporters jailed for stealing Miller and Paton signs will most likely qualify Jesse Kelly to be:

  • Obviously responsible for the actions of his operatives.
  • Dumber than a box of rocks.
  • Nominated for Political Cockroach of the Year.
  • Unethical, incompetent, and unqualified to represent CD8 in Congress.
  • All of the above.
See results without voting
A box of rocks--quite possibly superior in I.Q. to the Kelly campaign.
A box of rocks--quite possibly superior in I.Q. to the Kelly campaign.

Bottom Line

In the end, of course, this is obviously nothing to laugh about. At a time in our country's history when politics-as-usual is a curse elevated to the level of National Disaster, we as a people need our faith restored, need to know in the marrow of our bones that individuals of the utmost integrity--like Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Sarah Palin, and Brian Miller--can be trusted to serve our Constitutional Republic no matter the cost to themselves. To have a self-described conservative prove his disregard for the rule of law doesn't help us trust those who've earned that trust.

Not good.

To those readers who will assert that Kelly's people, not Kelly himself, did the crimes: He knew about it. It may never be proven in a court of law, but the court of public opinion is another matter. One rogue soldier out there snatching signs might be passed off as a loner going his own way. But two? In separate areas? With one even attempting to impersonate law enforcement personnel?

Not so much.

Besides, it's really three separate areas if we count my sighting last night in Sierra Vista--the very same night police were arresting perpetrators in Green Valley and Tucson.

He knew.

Some of us are able to scan aspiring candidates and judge their character accurately in a single glance; my wife and I both count ourselves blessed by God to qualify as falling in that category. For those of us so blessed, it's a simple matter to separate the trustworthy from the untrustworthy.

But that's not true for most citizens of these United States, especially those of us working our tails off to feed our families and dependent upon the so called mainstream media for our news. Under those conditions, it's even possible to become convinced that Gabrielle Giffords really is the border hawk she pretends to be during every reelection cycle.

Yeah, right.

[By the way, did you know that Payday Paton and Gaby I-love-Obamacare Giffords actually dated each other, back in the day? Makes sense. They do vote alike.]

Anyway, being vulnerable to the pressures of Life in general and false political propaganda on occasion does not mean the majority of Americans are--as the arrogant Progressives from Powderkeg Pete Stark to Barack Hussein Obama believe--less intelligent, less qualified to oversee our government, or "little people" in any way. Provide the voters with enough accurate information, and they will get it right every time.

It's also important to say clearly to those who take the law into their own hands: You cannot do this without consequences. Which brings us to the second half of Sam Stone's post. Toby Keith and Willie Nelson perform together in a pro-law and order song which contains the words, "...you got to draw a hard line". Brian Miller and his crew are doing precisely what must be done:

For all our supporters, and all the campaign workers who have sweated it out putting these signs up: You can be assured of one thing. We will prosecute to the fullest extent of the law. EACH SIGN carries a possible fine of $750 and / or 45 days in jail. Hope they like pumping iron and eating bland food.

You go, guys.

That's about it for tonight...except for one special teaser. There's another current issue which doesn't exactly shine a happy light on as-good-as-ex-candidate Kelly. Word has it that both Brian Miller and Jonathan Paton have released to the Pima County GOP their military records including their performance ratings while in service. Kelly...has not. He did turn in his DD1014, but that simply certifies his honorable discharge. What's missing (or so I've heard) are his various OPR (performance review) forms.

Worse yet, he's not just neglected to provide those forms but has actively refused to do so.

Well, guess what? It just so happens that this reporter is going to have the opportunity to ask Kelly about that in person--as long as he has the cojones to keep his already scheduled meet-and-greet dates.

We'll let you know how that turns out, for sure!

Brian Miller, willing to serve no matter the cost to himself.

Glad you chose "laugh". Thanks for commenting.

Can't wait for the next episode...:)

Kinda sad. You have not given any kind of evidence that Jesse Kelly knew anything about this, never mind ordering it to be done. I know that in the election season it is quite within the law to slander opponents, however, it holds true when you sling mud, there is always some dirt that clings.

Iris, thanks for commenting. You're correct in the legal sense. That is, I've not yet seen any proof (that would hold up in court) that Kelly knew one thing about this. Nor have I claimed that I have done so.

What I HAVE said:

1. The arrests of the two sign stealers (including one officer impersonator) were revealed on Brian Miller's Facebook page by Sam Stone. Since Sam is Brian's camaign manager, I'm reasonably confident that he's not going to post that info without having fact checked it.

Why? Because if it did turn out to be false, that would ultimately scuttle his own candidate's campaign. He didn't do it anonymously, but up front and in the face of the public.

2. Based on the above, it's my opinion that the man at the top would know what was going on. He might not; I just don't see the odds as being very good. If he doesn't, though, then he's not in control of his own people, and that wouldn't be good, either.

But I do understand and agree with your viewpoint that incidents this potentially damaging to ANYONE should be either proven or disproven whenever and however possible. Which is why I've already been in touch with some of my media contacts I felt might be interested in obtaining copies of the original police reports. Two of those contacts have indicated an interest in following up on this and, once their own careful investigations are completed, publishing their findings in print, via TV broadcast, or both.

From the moment the first of these mainstream media stories comes out, I'll be closely monitoring and summarizing their findings.

A link to the source of the thefts in Sierra Vista, Green Valley and Tucson would have been nice. After a Google search and a visit to Brian Miller's Facebook page I could not verify the account in your posting. What was the date of the arrests and who were the persons arrested? I'm not great at blogging but I try to incorporate the 5 W's and the H.

You did tell us the what, where, why and how of the story but you frustrated me by not including the who and when of it or even the source of it.

I'm strongly considering casting my ballot for Brian Miller but would like to verify these occurences first. Can you help me with this?

The orignial source of information was Sam Stone's post on Brian Miller's Facebook page. It's still there, or at least was last night (I'll check again later; have to run right now.). Since you couldn't find it, though, here's a hint: The arrests were made either the night of 8/2 or the wee hours of 8/3. Sam posted during the day on 8/3, so if you scroll down to "older posts" and look for week-old stuff (or nearly that) it'll turn up. I check it almost daily.

I have not yet provided the names of the arrestees because I've not yet acquired those. Police reports can be obtained legally/officially via email, and I'm considering that, but figure I probably need those names FIRST. Sort of a Catch-22.

Which is why I've contacted those I know even slightly in the media (print and TV) and have been assured by 2 of those contacts--one print contact in particular--that the story will be thoroughly investigated and reported upon.

Why would the Miller campaign know about these arrests first? Well, his and the Paton campaign? Simple, I figure. The perpetrators had Miller (and Paton) signs in their possession. I figure the cops gave both Miller's and Paton's people a call, asked if they wanted to prosecute or something like that.

Which Sam Stone (Miller's campaign manager) firmly promises in his post to do to the fullest extent of the law.

Oh, and sorry, but I DID cite the source--Brian Miller's Facebook page--near the top of this page.

Hope that helps.

P.S. If you need extra verification, perhaps dropping an email to Brian (via BrianMillerforCongress.com)might generate a response--help you decide one way or the other. You think?

fishygov, a quick update: I just got back from a Jesse Kelly meet-and-greet in Sierra Vista. Introduced myself to Jesse, and asked him--privately--about those two arrests. He did confirm that they happened. Didn't have the chance to press him for details (such as if he knew their names), but the arrests themselves do not seem to be in any doubt whatsoever.
