2012 Presidential Campaign Issues : #3 : Obamacare

63

By Ghost32

Motivation: Due to both the passage of time and the sheer number of issues at stake during the 2012 Presidential election campaign, it's all too easy to "forget stuff". In this series, we hope to provide a set of reminder pages for handy reference in the runup to Election Day.

Only the repeal of the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States could enslave the people of America as thoroughly as did the passage of Obamacare.

On Christmas Eve, 2009, when Santa fired up his sleigh

He passed President Barack Obama heading out the other way

Never mind the will of the People; that counted for nothing, you see

That Progressive in Chief, he's the greatest thief in America's history

In just that one little bit of legislation--more than twenty-three hundred pages

We now know what's in it, Nancy: The heist against which America rages

One sixth of the nation's economy, power grab, government controlled

Back in Kenya they're still celebrating, saying, "I told you that's how he rolled!"

===================================================

While here among thinking people who understand the size of this raper

The roll that generally comes to mind is a roll of toilet paper

Me? I had no use for his abuse long before that bill was unethically passed

But since that s**t, I've never quit--hammer down, foot on the gas

It's not just the individual mandate, though that would be enough all alone

It's also the other umpteen goodies in there that piranha-strip meat from the bone

It creates the President's private army, beyond conspiracy theory

One hundred thousand warriors to make any good citizen leery

The roll that generally comes to mind is a roll of toilet paper.
The roll that generally comes to mind is a roll of toilet paper.

Do you remember how he did it? Were you conscious that month at all?

Arm-twisting in the House and Senate had gone on spring, summer, and fall

There were bribes where that wasn't working in Cajun country and out with the corn

The GOP was shut out, and in the middle of the night they passed it in utter scorn

It didn't matter what we told him--he's so sure Father 'Bama knows best

Arrogance absolutely unparalelled in the history of the freaking West

Robbing Peter with cuts in Medicaid to pay for part of Paul's free ride

Now the Catholics have a condom-based problem; they're not going to let that slide

======================================================

Businesses are closing doors, cutting back, or just a hiring freeze

Due to increased cost of insurance for every one of their employees

The pitch we knew, a witch's brew, was touted to cost less

They laughed and simply lied when they said it truly was the best

It depends on your orientation and on your point of view

If your goal is fundamental transformation, then Obamacare's for you

But if you'd really like to see Liberty restored in this land

Vote against Obama in November, 'cause people, you've been scammed

Remember in November!

It is so unpopular that over half of Americans want it repealed!

Hopefully, the Supreme Court will find it unconstitutional.

I can't believe he bullied and bribed and got it through.

I think the federal government over stepped its boundaries on the health care scam.

This is an interesting case of legislation. In polls people largely don't want the bill, but many of the individual parts of the bill do poll well. The mandate will be defeated in the courts, easily. There is a golden opportunity for the next congress to keep the provisions that are worthwhile while trimming the fat, but that will require strong leadership from the President. I worry that healthcare suffers from market issues that the government can do little about. Repealing is definately an option, but it would serve the future administration well to remember that there are some elements of reform that are in demand, such as non-discrimination for pre-existing conditions.

Fred - Along with the individual mandate the SCOTUS will now also probably be looking at the violation of First Amendment rights. Freedom of religion seems to rankle Obama.

I was more than vocal about this damned thing -- in fact got kicked off AARP's website I gave them so much hell. It didn't, however, stop them from sending me all their crap touting AARP. I return it all marked "Deceased Because of Obamacare!" It still hasn't stopped AARP mail and I still haven't shut my big mouth -- deceased or not! Very clever Hub to get your points across! Best, Sis

Will: Absolutely--but even if the Supreme Court DOES declare it unconstitutional, we need to STILL hold Obama's feet to the fire on this one during the general election campaign. As in, "If he'd do THAT to us, what's NEXT?"

Mary: It was watching him do that ram-jam job that gave me my PhD in Obamanomics. That is, his personal style was SO out in the open that for any "tough" situation in the future (meaning when the will of the people and the will of Barack clash)...that he could be easily predicted. And he hasn't changed that pattern yet.

badpoet81: Yes, no, and in between. He was counting on the more popular provisions to carry the day over time, obviously. But to require anyone--private company or government agency--to cover ALL preexisting conditions is sheer economic suicide. So at that point you get into ideology per se: At what point is maintaining life not worth it. And there IS such a point.

For example, let's say that I were at Death's door--but if the entire annual GNP for the planet were applied to the problem, I could easily live for three or four more decades. Is my life worth that much? Not only no, clearly, but HELL NO!

However, I'm one of the possibly rare birds who does not believe in insurance, period. Yes, I carry auto insurance--because they'll take my vehicles and my driver's license and maybe throw me in jail if I don't. But that's not believing in insurance; that's believing in government having a bigger stick than I do.

Yes, that makes me a radical on the issue. I definitely are one.

But I wouldn't doubt that LOTS of the politicos out there--including one or maybe all of the GOP candidates-- realize that covering preexisting conditions would be a popular political move...if they can pay for it. It won't be cheap.

Frog: Yes, Jim, I've VERY glad to see the Catholics waking up to the real nature of that oppressive portion of the program. Freedom of religion seems to rankle Obama BIG TIME.

Sis: I'd once been an AARP member (briefly, in my fifties)...till I figured out how evil they truly were. Hardcore left wing, that is, which to me is the same thing.

Glad you liked my "technique" here. :)

If people really understood what will happen under ObamaCare they would recoil in utter shock.

That' exactly right. It'd be like a "Scared Straight" program if we could run them through a "Sudden Immersion Understanding" program.
